Neurale retina van een muis 8 dagen oud is op een 4% gelatine blok. Na isolatie van de fotoreceptor laag (200 pm) door vibratome, zijn de fotoreceptoren gezaaid na mechanische en enzymatische dissociatie voor cultuur. De fotoreceptor laag kan worden gebruikt voor moleculaire, biochemische analyses of transplantatie.
