Fluorescerende gelabelde antibiotica zijn krachtige instrumenten die kunnen worden gebruikt om meerdere aspecten van antimicrobiële resistentie te bestuderen. Dit artikel beschrijft de voorbereiding van fluorescerende gelabelde antibiotica en hun toepassing op het bestuderen van antibioticaresistentie bij bacteriën. Sondes kunnen worden gebruikt om mechanismen van bacteriële resistentie (bijvoorbeeld efflux) te bestuderen door spectrofotometrie, stroomcytometrie en microscopie.
