Een niet-label niet-radio-isotopische methode voor DNA-polymerase proeflezen en een DNA repair assay werd ontwikkeld met behulp van hoge-resolutie MALDI-TOF massa spectrometrie en een strategie voor de uitbreiding van één nucleotide. De test bleek te zijn van de zeer specifieke, eenvoudig, snel en gemakkelijk uit te voeren voor het proeflezen en reparatie patches korter dan 9-nucleotiden.
