Wij beschrijven het gebruik van een kooldioxide laser reflow techniek silica trilholten, zoals vrijstaande microsferen en on-chip microtoroids fabriceren. De reflow-methode verwijdert oneffenheden, waardoor lange levensduur foton in beide apparaten. De resulterende apparaten hebben een zeer hoge kwaliteit factoren, waardoor toepassingen, variërend van telecommunicatie tot biodetection.
