Verschillende diermodellen van congenitale diafragmatische hernia en foetale tracheale occlusie bieden voor- en nadelen met betrekking tot ethische kwesties, kosten, chirurgische moeilijkheidsgraad, grootte, overlevingspercentages en beschikbaarheid van genetische hulpmiddelen. Dit model biedt een nieuw hulpmiddel om de impact van zowel tracheale occlusie als verhoogde luminale druk op de longontwikkeling te bestuderen.
