Méthodes pour l'imagerie par bioluminescence des infections bactériennes chez les animaux vivants sont décrits. Les agents pathogènes sont modifiées pour exprimer la luciférase permettant d'imagerie optique du corps entier des infections chez les animaux vivants. Les modèles animaux peuvent être infectés par des pathogènes exprimer la luciférase et le cours résultant de la maladie de visualiser en temps réel par imagerie par bioluminescence.
