M2-ähnliche tumorassoziierte Makrophagen (TAM) sind mit Tumorprogression und schlechter Prognose bei Krebs assoziiert. Dieses Protokoll dient als detaillierte Anleitung, um THP-1-Monozyten-ähnliche Zellen innerhalb von 14 Tagen reproduzierbar in M2-ähnliche Makrophagen zu differenzieren und zu polarisieren. Dieses Modell ist die Grundlage, um die entzündungshemmende Wirkung von TAM in der Tumormikroumgebung zu untersuchen.
