Mit Effektor-Funktionen deutlich von anderen T-Zell-Untergruppen, Th17-Zellen wurden zentral bei entzündlichen Autoimmunerkrankungen in Verbindung gebracht. Diese in vitro-Differenzierung Th17-Protokoll bietet die Möglichkeit, festzustellen, ob naiven CD4 +-T-Lymphozyten in Th17-Zellen zu differenzieren und ihre Rolle in der Autoimmun-und Wirtsantwort weiter zu prüfen.
