Descriviamo un nuovo approccio per l'analisi simultanea delle funzioni cerebrali e della struttura utilizzando la risonanza magnetica (MRI). Valutiamo la struttura del cervello ad alta risoluzione diffusion-weighted imaging e sostanza bianca trattografia fibra. A differenza di standard di risonanza magnetica strutturale, queste tecniche ci permettono di collegare direttamente la connettività anatomica di proprietà funzionali delle reti cerebrali.
Lo studio di complessi sistemi computazionali è facilitato da mappe di rete, come diagrammi circuitali. Tale mappatura è particolarmente informativo quando si studia il cervello, come il ruolo funzionale che soddisfi cervello all'area dell'euro possono essere in gran parte definita dai suoi collegamenti con altre aree cerebrali. In questo rapporto, descriviamo un romanzo, non-invasivo per mettere in relazione la struttura del cervello e la funzione utilizzando la risonanza magnetica (MRI). Questo approccio, una combinazione di imaging strutturale di lungo raggio connessioni in fibra e dati di imaging funzionale, è illustrato in due distinti domini cognitivi dell'attenzione visiva e percezione viso. Imaging strutturale viene eseguita con diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) e trattografia fibre, che traccia la diffusione delle molecole d'acqua lungo sostanza bianca tratti di fibre nel cervello (Figura 1). Per visualizzare questi tratti di fibre, siamo in grado di indagare il lungo raggio architettura connettiva del cervello. I risultati si raffrontano con favorataggio con una delle tecniche più utilizzate in DWI, diffusion tensor imaging (DTI). DTI è in grado di risolvere le configurazioni complesse di tratti di fibre, limitando la sua utilità per la costruzione di modelli dettagliati, anatomicamente informati della funzione cerebrale. Al contrario, le nostre analisi riprodurre neuroanatomia nota con precisione e accuratezza. Questo vantaggio è dovuto a procedure di acquisizione dati: mentre molti diffusione DTI misura protocolli in un piccolo numero di indicazioni (ad esempio, 6 o 12), si impiegano una diffusione di spettro di imaging (DSI) 1, 2 protocollo che valuta la diffusione in direzioni 257 e ad una serie di forze magnetiche gradiente. Inoltre, i dati DSI ci permettono di utilizzare metodi più sofisticati per la ricostruzione di dati acquisiti. In due esperimenti (attenzione visiva e percezione dei volti), trattografia rivela che co-attiva aree del cervello umano sono connessi anatomicamente, sostenendo ipotesi esistenti che formano reti funzionali. DWI ci permette di creare un "circuito diAgram "e riprodurre su un singolo soggetto-base, ai fini del monitoraggio attività rilevanti per l'attività del cervello nelle reti di interesse.
Ad alta risoluzione e la trattografia DWI fibra fornire un approccio efficace per l'esame della struttura connettiva del cervello umano.
