Administration af to analoger af thymidin, Edu og BrdU, i gravide mus tillader analyse af cellecyklus progression i neurale og stamceller i embryonale mus hjernen. Denne metode er nyttig til at bestemme virkningerne af genotoksisk stress, herunder ioniserende stråling under hjernens udvikling.
