Dit protocol is voor de bepaling van lipiden in zeewater en biologische specimens. Lipiden in filtraten worden geëxtraheerd met chloroform of mengsels van chloroform en methanol in het geval van vaste stoffen. Lipideklassen worden gemeten door staaf dunnelaagchromatografie met vlamionisatiedetectie en hun som geeft het totale lipidengehalte.
