Optik Sinir transeksiyonu yetişkin MSS yaralanma yaygın olarak kullanılan bir model. Retina ganglion hücrelerinin yüzde doksanı (RGCs) olan aksonlar tamamen axotomy sonra 14 gün içinde ölürler (axotomy) transeksiyon. Bu model, deneysel manipülasyonlar kolayca mükellef ve yüksek tekrarlanabilir.
