Er is een methode vastgesteld om rustige neurale stamcellen in gekweekte Drosophila-hersenexplantaten te reactiveren. Met behulp van deze methode kan de rol van systemische signalen worden losgekoppeld van weefselintrinsieke signalen in de regulatie van neurale stamcelrust, in- en uitgang.
