Agro-infiltratie en PVX-agro-infectie zijn routinematige functionele assays voor voorbijgaande ectopische expressie van genen in planten. Deze methoden zijn efficiënte assays in effectoromics strategieën (snelle weerstand en avirulence gen ontdekking) en cruciaal voor modern onderzoek in moleculaire plant pathologie. Ze voldoen aan de vraag naar robuuste functionele analyse met hoge doorvoer in fabrieken.
