Deze richtlijnen kunnen worden gebruikt voor de toediening van de Simplified Evaluation of CONsciousness Disorders (SECONDs), een kort gedragshulpmiddel dat is ontwikkeld om hersengewonde patiënten te diagnosticeren in tijdsbeperkte omgevingen. Deze schaal onderzoekt commando-navolging, communicatie, visuele achtervolging, fixatie, pijnlokalisatie, georiënteerde bewegingen en opwinding.
