Het protocol maakt het mogelijk om een zuivere adipocytenpopulatie te genereren uit geïnduceerde pluripotente stamcellen (iPSC's). Retinoïnezuur wordt gebruikt om iPSC's te differentiëren in mesenchymale stamcellen (MSC's) die worden gebruikt voor de productie van adipocyten. Vervolgens wordt een sorteerbenadering op basis van Nijlrode kleuring gebruikt om zuivere adipocyten te verkrijgen.
