Single-Fiber opname is een effectieve elektrofysiologische techniek die toepasbaar is op de centrale en perifere zenuwstelsels. Samen met de voorbereiding van intact DRG met de bijgevoegde sciatische zenuw, het mechanisme van geleiding falen wordt onderzocht. Beide protocollen verbeteren het begrip van de relatie van het perifere zenuwstelsel met pijn.
