Het hier gepresenteerde protocol maakt de reproductie mogelijk van een wijdverspreide demyelinatie van grijze stof van beide corticale hemisferen bij volwassen mannelijke Dark Agouti-ratten. De methode bestaat uit intracerebrale implantatie van een katheter, subklinische immunisatie tegen myeline oligodendrocyt glycoproteïne en intracerebrale injectie van een pro-inflammatoir cytokinemengsel via de geïmplanteerde katheter.
