Wir beschreiben ein Protokoll, das Bildgebung von Mitochondrien ermöglicht in lebenden Nervenzellen mittels Fluoreszenz-Mikroskopie über einen längeren Zeitraum. Imaging über längere Zeiträume durch Lentivirus-vermittelte Expression von mitochondrial gezielte fluoreszierendes Protein und Verwendung eines kostengünstigen Bühne-Top-Inkubator, entworfen und gebaut wurde in unserem Labor durchgeführt.
