Ett Pan-lyssavirus kapslade omvänd transkription polymeras kedje reaktion har utvecklats för att upptäcka specifikt alla kända lyssaviruses. Validering med hjälp av rabieshjärnprover av olika djur arter visade att denna metod har en känslighet och specificitet som motsvarar den guldmynt standard fluorescerande anti kropps test och kan användas för rutinmässig rabies diagnos.
