Dit protocol wordt beschreven methoden om vast te leggen van de auditieve brainstem response van postnatale rat pups. Om te onderzoeken de functionele ontwikkeling van buitenste haarcellen, is de experimentele procedure van geheel-cel patch klem opnemen in geïsoleerde buitenste haarcellen stapsgewijze beschreven.
