Leukocyten rekrutering naar de lever plaatsvindt binnen de gespecialiseerde kanalen van de lever sinusoïden die worden omzoomd door unieke lever sinusoïdale endotheelcellen. Fasecontrastmicroscopie van werving leukocyten over humane lever sinusvormige endotheel onder omstandigheden van fysiologische shear stress kan de ontrafeling van de moleculaire mechanismen die ten grondslag liggen aan dit proces te vergemakkelijken.
