Marc Lecuit, M.D., Ph.D., is a microbiologist and an infectious diseases physician. He is the Director of the Biology of Infection Unit at Institut Pasteur and Inserm, and the Head of the National Reference Centre and WHO Collaborating Centre Listeria. .He is a Professor at the Paris Descartes University and Deputy Head of the Department of Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine at the Necker-Enfants Malades University Hospital. Research in the Lecuit Lab (www.pasteur.fr/research/biu) is focused on understanding the host and microbial mechanisms underlying host invasion and within-host dissemination. The pathogens studied include bacteria such as Listeria monocytogenes and Group B streptococcus, and emerging viruses such as chikungunya and Zika viruses.
