Wir berichten hier über die robuste und effiziente Expression von fluoreszierenden Proteinen nach der mRNA-Injektion in unbefruchtete Eizellen von Branchiostoma lanceolatum. Die Entwicklung der Mikroinjektionstechnik in dieser basalen chordate wird den Weg für tiefgreifende technische Innovationen in diesem aufstrebenden Modellsystem, auch in-vivo-Bildgebung und genspezifischen Manipulationen zu ebnen.
