We beschrijven een protocol om intacte wortels en de omliggende rhizosfeergrond uit wetlandomgevingen te bemonsteren, te behouden en te doorsnijden met rijst(Oryza sativa L.) als modelsoort. Eenmaal bewaard, kan het monster worden geanalyseerd met behulp van elementaire beeldvormingstechnieken, zoals synchrotron x-ray fluorescentie (XRF) chemische speciatie beeldvorming.
