Cross-konjugerede korsformede fluoroforer baseret på 1,4-distyryl-2 ,5-bis (arylethynyl) benzen og benzobisoxazole kerner kan anvendes til kvalitativt at identificere forskellige Lewis sure og Lewis grundlæggende analytter. Denne metode er baseret på forskellene i emissioner farver cruciforms der er observeret ved analyt tilføjelse. Strukturelt nært beslægtede arter kan skelnes fra hinanden.
