I denne studien presenteres en rottemodell for induksjon av periodontitt via en kombinasjon av retentiv ligatur og repeterende injeksjoner av lipopolysakkarid avledet fra Porphyromonas gingivalis, over 14 dager rundt de første maksillære jekslene. Ligerings- og LPS-injeksjonsteknikkene var effektive for å indusere peridontitt, noe som resulterte i alveolær bentap og betennelse.
