Bakteriofagens förmåga att flytta DNA mellan bakterieceller gör dem till effektiva verktyg för genetisk manipulation av deras bakterievärdar. Här presenteras en metod för att inducera, återhämta sig och använda φBB-1, en bakteriofag av Borrelia burgdorferi, för att transducera heterologt DNA mellan olika stammar av borrelia spiroket.
