Her præsenterer vi en detaljeret protokol til isolering og identifikation af antibiotikaresistente bakterier fra vand og molekylær karakterisering af deres antibiotikaresistensgener (ARG'er). Brugen af kulturbaserede og ikke-kulturbaserede (metagenomiske analyser) teknikker giver fuldstændig information om den samlede bakterielle mangfoldighed og den samlede pulje af forskellige ARG'er, der findes i ferskvand fra Mumbai, Indien.
